Banks: Sberbank
Sberbank is the largest bank in Russia and CIS. Its assets total more than a quarter of the national banking system (27%), while the share of bank capital is at a level of 26% (June 1, 2010). According to the magazine The Banker (July 1, 2010), Sberbank held 43 place on the size of fixed capital (Tier 1-level) among the world's largest banks.
Founded in 1841, Sberbank today - a modern universal bank, meets the needs of different groups of clients in a wide range of banking services. Sberbank is the largest market share of deposits and a major creditor of the Russian economy. As of June 1, 2010, the share of Sberbank of Russia's retail deposits was 49% and its loan portfolio includes about a third of all loans issued in the country (33% retail and 30% of corporate loans).
